The Aesculap Hydrolift Vertebral Body Replacement (VBR) System is indicated for use in the thoracolumbar spine (T1 to L5) for partial or total replacement of collapsed, damaged or unstable vertebral body due to tumor or trauma. The Aesculap Hydrolift VBR System is intended for use with supplemental spinal fixation systems such as the Aesculap MACS® TL or S4® Systems.

Hydrostatic Distraction Hydrolift is the first and only VBR System to incorporate hydrostatic force as the primary means of distraction. This allows for optimized tactile feedback and digitally monitored pressure control to minimize the chance of vertebral body endplate damage.

The Hydrolift VBR:

  • Is designed with a small cross-sectional area to allow for minimal bone resection of the vertebral body
  • Final distraction position is maintained through a mechanical lock for safety and security
  • Has an expansion range of 21 to 94 mm to accommodate the needs of one and two vertebral bodies

Endplate Design

The endplates of the Hydrolift VBR are coated with Plasmapore to allow for in-situ angulation to precisely match the patient's anatomic need.

Hydrolift VBR Endplates:

  • Are fully adjustable to +/- 10 degrees to match the exact anatomic situation
  • Have spikes for immediate stability, and Plasmapore for long term fixation
  • Have an anatomical design that adheres to Wolffs Law
  • Are fully interchangeable to mix and match sizing
